Seeing Your Orange County, California Divorce Or Child Custody Battle As Inspiration for Self-Improvement – Part 2

by Dinnebier & Demmerle on May 7, 2014

Orange County, California DivorceSelf-improvement can provide dividends not only after your California divorce or child custody journey but also during it. What practical exercises can you try to manage your life and your problems better?

One of the simplest is commonly known as root cause analysis.

The basic idea is that you want to identify the real reason why some “problem x” is occurring in your life. Then fix that root problem instead of the symptoms.

Consider an example of a broken motorcycle. Your bike is not running. You’re trying to figure out what’s wrong with it, so that you can fix the defective components (or whatever else is wrong) and get your bike back on the road again.

You could spend hundreds of dollars replacing components at random, only to discover that nothing is working. Only when you step back and realize that your bike’s in a pond will you understand what you must do: the bike won’t run until you get it out of the pond.

That metaphor may sound silly, but it’s very important. Until you understand the true root cause of your suffering — whether you are trying to figure out what to do about your California divorce or child custody situation or looking for more personal insight — you will struggle. So what’s the root cause? Metaphorically speaking, why is your motorcycle stuck in a pond? And if it is, what should you do about it?

We’ll go through an exercise in our next post to address those questions. For now, if you need assistance with your case, connect with the team here at Dinnebier & Demmerle for a confidential and thorough case assessment.
